Think of how it used to be done. I decided I need to take a look at top 50 lists on the Web and collect my thoughts. Start with this list from Yahoo! News. Someone had to create this list and freeze it into a presentation. It will not update itself though the information will change very quickly. Ratings in more dynamic media and Sites can do this dynamic updating, resolving an information bottleneck. The key is a technology allowing easy "mash-up" of data sources into user-friendly interfaces by the average user. One leader here is Kapow server.
