MIST2090: Introduction to Management Information Systems
Open Source Tools
Submitted by dthoma7 on Thu, 2008-10-16 14:56I frequently try out and contribute to a variety of open-source online community-type tools including Mambo, Tiki-wiki, Drupal (a commercial version of Drupal = Acquia ), and Moodle. I have several currently installed and use some of them for testing out comparative features.
Several guides on the Web provide discussions of the various tools available. Wikipedia provides one of my favorite general lists here.
MIST 2090: Intro. to MIS
Submitted by dthoma7 on Thu, 2006-10-05 02:44I taught this course at the University of Georgia as a PhD student. Because of the large size of the course, I trained a head TA and a team of other TAs to run labs and grade papers.
At the time, I designed and coded the Web platform running the course in PHP; the platform design templates are stiil being used (see this link) though the interactive elements have been removed. I had built in secure socket layer security and passwords to ensure safe access to protected content including statistics on the course grades, movies, etc.
